Ricoh Document Scanners in Singapore
In short: The fi-series — formerly Fujitsu, now Ricoh — is the default for office and departmental capture in Singapore, from a 40 ppm desktop unit to 150 ppm production machines. Five classes: desktop duplex, ADF-with-flatbed, A3, production, and compact counter-top scanners for cards and passports.
Above roughly 30,000 pages a day, or where scanning runs all shift, the German-built InoTec SCAMAX range is the correct class of machine. Bound volumes should never go through any feeder — those belong on a book scanner.
Which fi-series for which job
Daily volume sets the speed class. What is physically in the folder — staples, passports, A3 drawings, fragile pages — decides whether you also need a flatbed.
Departmental, up to 3,000 pages/day
Clinics, HR, finance and branch offices capturing paper as it arrives.
40–90 ppm duplex in a compact footprint, USB or network.
Mixed bound and loose originals
Archives and offices with stapled files, passports, bound registers and fragile pages.
ADF plus integrated flatbed, so delicate items never enter the rollers.
Production, 3,000–30,000 pages/day
Records departments, hospitals and engineering firms running daily batch capture.
Large hoppers, ultrasonic double-feed detection, paper-protection sensing.
A3 and oversize sheets
Engineering, architecture and land-survey offices with drawings and large registers.
Native A3 duplex feeding rather than stitching two A4 halves.
ID, passports and front desks
Reception, onboarding, clinics and compliance teams capturing identity documents.
Booklet and card feed paths, compact enough for a counter.
Shared and network capture
Departments where several people scan and no PC sits beside the machine.
Scan to network destinations with NX Manager, no attached workstation.

Class, speed and format
Speeds are Ricoh published figures for A4 at 200/300 dpi; real throughput depends on paper condition, mixed sizes and image processing. Configuration and software bundles are confirmed on quotation.
Government agencies, statutory boards and public universities procure through GeBIZ, where Micrographics Data is a registered supplier. Tender-ready specifications and compliance statements are supplied on request.
We quote both ways
Buy for day-forward capture — daily mail, ward records, invoices — where someone is at the machine anyway. Outsource the legacy boxes: preparation, not scanning, is where the hours go, and that work is already staffed at our bureau.
Is Ricoh the same as the Fujitsu fi-series?
Yes. The fi-series scanner business became part of Ricoh, and the range is sold under the Ricoh name. Model numbering, PaperStream software and consumables continue unchanged, and existing Fujitsu-branded units remain supported.
Which Ricoh scanner do we need for our volume?
Up to about 1,000 pages a day, the fi-8040. Up to 3,000, the fi-8150, fi-8170 or fi-8190. From 3,000 to 30,000, a production model — fi-7900, fi-8930 or fi-8950. Above that, or where the machine runs all shift, move to the InoTec SCAMAX range.
Do we need a flatbed as well as a feeder?
If your files contain stapled sets, passports, bound registers, receipts or torn pages, yes — the flatbed handles what the ADF should not. The fi-8250, fi-8270, fi-8290 and fi-7700 combine both in one unit; the fi-70F is a standalone compact flatbed you can put beside any feeder.
What is double-feed detection?
Ultrasonic sensors detect two sheets travelling together and stop the scan, so pages are never silently skipped. For records with legal or audit value it is essential — the difference between a complete file and a gap nobody notices for years.
What is the difference between the fi-8250 and the fi-8250U?
The same scanner with different connectivity. The U model is USB-only for a single attached workstation; the standard model adds wired network capability for shared use. If more than one person will scan, take the network version.
Can we scan books on an fi-series?
No. Every fi-series model pulls sheets through rollers, so bound material must either be unbound or scanned on an overhead book scanner. Bound registers, rare volumes and anything with a fragile spine belong on a Book2net or CZUR.
Do you install, train and service in Singapore?
Yes. Every scanner is delivered, installed and commissioned by our own team, operators are trained on your material, and warranty, consumables and maintenance are handled locally rather than shipped overseas.
