Ricoh fi-800R Compact Document Scanner
In short: A counter-top duplex scanner with two feed paths — a standard ADF for A4 paper and a dedicated return path that takes passports, ID cards and embossed plastic without bending them around a roller. Built for reception desks, onboarding and compliance counters.
This is not a volume machine. If the counter also handles daily file batches, put an fi-8170 behind it and keep the fi-800R for identity documents.

Two paths, because a passport is not a sheet of paper
A booklet or an embossed card forced around a normal feed path jams, scuffs or comes out distorted. The return path feeds the item in and back out of the front of the machine along a nearly straight line, so thickness and rigidity stop being a problem — which is why one small unit can serve a counter that handles both paperwork and identity documents.
Footprint is the other half of the argument. Service counters have no spare depth, and a machine that has to be moved to be used gets used less. The fi-800R is sized to live permanently beside a terminal.
Paper
A4 forms and correspondence through the standard ADF.
Identity
Passports, ID cards and embossed plastic through the front return path.
Capture
Duplex in one pass, with profiles per document type.
Output
PaperStream Capture to searchable PDF or images into your onboarding system.
fi-800R at a glance
Figures from Ricoh published data. Speeds are measured on clean A4 at 200/300 dpi; sustained throughput on aged or mixed stock is lower, and we will tell you what we measured on your own documents.
Where the fi-800R sits
Counter work and file work are different jobs. Match the machine to which one dominates rather than compromising on both.
A counter scanner is always owned, never outsourced — the capture happens while the customer is standing there. Our bureau work starts where the back-file boxes begin.
Government buyers procure through GeBIZ, where Micrographics Data is a registered supplier.
Can the fi-800R scan passports without damaging them?
That is what the return path is for. The booklet feeds in and back out of the front along a nearly straight line rather than being bent around a roller, which is what causes creasing and jams on an ordinary feeder.
Does it handle embossed plastic cards?
Yes — rigid and embossed cards go through the return path. Tell us the card types you handle and we will confirm against the current specification before quoting.
Is it fast enough for daily file batches?
No, and it is not meant to be. It is a counter machine for identity documents and small batches. Departments scanning thousands of pages a day should pair it with an fi-8170 or move that work to a production model.
Will it fit on a service counter?
That is the design brief — it is sized to sit permanently beside a terminal rather than being wheeled out when needed. Send us your counter depth if space is tight and we will confirm.
How much does the Ricoh fi-800R cost?
It is quoted per configuration — software, accessories, installation and support all change the figure. Micrographics Data issues a written quotation, and a GeBIZ quotation for government agencies and statutory boards.
Do you install and service Ricoh in Singapore?
Yes. Delivery, setup, operator briefing, consumables and maintenance are all handled by our own Singapore team.
What comes across your counter?
Tell us the mix — passports, cards, forms — and we will confirm the fi-800R fits, or point at the model that does, and quote installed.
