Exhibition Case Hygrometers
In short: A small hygrometer inside a display case shows whether humidity control is holding. The miniature digital thermo-hygrometer gives a continuous readout of temperature and relative humidity. The miniature analogue hygrometer, made in Japan, measures 48 × 28 mm and needs no battery, so it can sit discreetly in a case for long periods.
These are indicators, not data loggers. For light, UV and survey readings, see the Elsec 765.

Know when the buffer has stopped working
Silica-gel buffers such as Prosorb eventually saturate. A hygrometer in the case shows the drift, so the buffer is reconditioned before objects are exposed to swings.
Place the instrument where it can be read without opening the case and away from lights that warm it. Check readings on a routine schedule.
Place
Set inside the case where it can be read from outside.
Read
Check RH and temperature on a routine schedule.
Compare
Compare against your set point.
Act
Recondition or replace the buffer when readings drift.

Exhibition Case Hygrometers questions
See the full range under Museum & Library Exhibition Supplies.
Digital or analogue?
Digital for a precise temperature and RH readout; analogue where a small, battery-free indicator is preferred.
How big is the analogue hygrometer?
48 × 28 mm.
Do they log data?
No. They are indicators. Ask us about logging if you need records.
Why monitor if we use Prosorb?
Silica gel saturates over time; the hygrometer shows when it needs reconditioning.
How many cases?
We recommend digital or analogue per case, and quote.
