MRC001 Microfilm Storage Cabinet
In short: An eight-drawer steel cabinet for 16 mm and 35 mm microfilm boxes, holding up to 288 35 mm boxes or 504 16 mm boxes in a footprint of 412 × 610 mm. Designed and manufactured in Singapore, with a single key lock governing all eight drawers.
Storage is the quiet half of a preservation programme: film rated for centuries only reaches that life if it is held in stable conditions, kept off the floor, and findable. Pair with correctly processed film and a rewinder for inspection.

Dense storage that still opens quietly
Each of the eight drawers runs on precision telescopic ball-bearing slides with a recessed handle, rated to 20 kg. That sounds like a detail until a reading-room assistant pulls a full drawer twenty times a day — cheap slides bind, and a drawer that jams is a drawer that gets dropped.
Capacity is 36 boxes per drawer in 35 mm or 63 in 16 mm, so a single cabinet absorbs a substantial run in 0.25 m² of floor. One key lock controls all eight drawers and carries an OPEN/CLOSED indicator, so a closing check is a glance rather than eight tugs.

Storage, handling and supply
Film needs somewhere to live and something to wind it. Both affect how long the images last.
A cabinet controls dust, light and handling — it does not control temperature and humidity
Government buyers procure through GeBIZ, where Micrographics Data is a registered supplier.
How much microfilm does the MRC001 hold?
Up to 288 35 mm boxes at 36 per drawer, or up to 504 16 mm boxes at 63 per drawer, across eight drawers. Send your box count and format mix and we will confirm how many cabinets you need.
How much does a microfilm storage cabinet cost?
It is quoted per unit with rates for multi-cabinet installations, delivered and positioned in Singapore. We issue GeBIZ quotations for government agencies and statutory boards.
Is a steel cabinet enough for archival storage?
It handles dust, light, physical handling and security — but not climate. Preservation standards specify cool, dry storage (commonly around 18°C and 35% relative humidity for masters), which is a room-level or vault-level matter. The cabinet is necessary, not sufficient.
What are the cabinet dimensions?
412 mm wide, 1320 mm high and 610 mm deep, so it occupies roughly a quarter of a square metre of floor. Each drawer takes 20 kg.
How is it secured?
A single key lock governs all eight drawers, with an OPEN/CLOSED indicator so staff can verify the cabinet is locked at a glance rather than testing each drawer.
What is the finish, and why does it matter?
EG steel with a corrosion-resistant epoxy powder coat in RAL7035 light grey. In a humid climate the coating is what stops surface corrosion transferring to boxes and film over years of storage.
Where is it made?
Singapore. That shortens lead times and means replacement parts, keys and additional matching cabinets stay available rather than depending on an overseas production run.
Can we mix 16 mm and 35 mm in one cabinet?
Yes — capacity per drawer simply differs by box size. Tell us the mix and we will plan the drawer allocation with you.
How many rolls, and 16 mm or 35 mm?
Send your box count and format mix; we calculate cabinets required and quote delivered and positioned.
